GDC – General Dental Council
All dental professionals must register with the GDC to work within the UK. The GDC regulates the standards for dental treatments to ensure patients receive the care they need.
BDA – British Dental Association
The BDA is a professional association and trade union for UK dentists, they promote policies which benefit dental practice and dental care, and champion higher standards. They also publish the British Dental Journal and promote the role of evidence-based dental care. BDA Smile is the BDA site for patients.

FGDP(UK) – The Faculty of General Dental Practice
The Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) is the only professional membership body in the UK specifically for general dental practitioners and dental care professionals.
Their aim is to improve the standard of care delivered to patients through standard setting, publications, postgraduate training and assessment, education and research.
BDHF – British Dental Health Foundation

The BDHF are a leading independent charity working to improve oral health around the world. Their goal is to improve people’s lives by reducing the harm caused by oral diseases – many of which are entirely preventable. They organise campaigns like Mouth Cancer Action Month and National Smile Month make millions of people aware of the importance of good oral health.

BACD – British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry

BSDHT – British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy
The BSDHT (formerly British Dental Hygienists’ Association, BDHA) is a professional association and trade union for UK dental hygienists and therapists, they promote policies which benefit dental practice and dental care, and champion higher standards.
CQC – Care Quality Commission
The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care. They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards and publish what they find, including performance ratings to help people choose care.
